Potential NSF
Program Scholars will be required to complete a four-part application process.
Students will complete a Financial Aid
Form at CSULB
or local Financial Aid office. The
Financial Aid office will review this information and inform the students if they
potentially qualify for the CECS&M NSF Scholars Program. Each department will receive
the list of potential program applicants.
Students who qualify financially for the
Program and determine that they want to proceed with the
application process
will be required to complete a short essay describing their financial need, academic
achievements, and how they have demonstrated their ability to handle time and other
resources (e.g., working while attending school).
Applicants must submit a curriculum plan
that demonstrates that they can graduate within two years and meet all departmental course
requirements. This plan must be completed with the assistance of their advisor. It is
anticipated that this requirement will have the added benefit of forcing students to think
about graduation within two years, and reinforce the mentoring process between students
and faculty advisors.
Finally, applicants must participate in a
brief oral interview conducted by representatives from CECS and Mathematics.
