Eligibility Criteria

U.S. citizen, national, or alien admitted as a refugee at the time of application.

Has been approved for the Department of Education Pell Grant.

Full-time enrollment in computer science, computer engineering or mathematics degree program at the baccalaureate level. Current part-time students are eligible to apply, provided they are able to become full-time students through this scholarship.



Selection Criteria

It is assumed that financial eligibility will have been established in advance.

All NSF Scholars must intend to and be able to enroll full time if given the scholarship.

Academic merit:

  • Mathematics: a B average in mathematics courses taken to date;

  • CECS: a GPA of 2.8 in courses in the major.

Determination to complete a course of study based on a review by the departments' Scholarship Committees of units taken in the past by the student.

Potential for success determined by courses completed (General Education or in the major), number of units, courses remaining and current job demands.

Financial help and placement potential: Experience in summer co-op or internship.
